Basketball Game Preview: Centennial Coyotes vs. Sunrise Mountain Mustangs

Centennial hasn't had much luck against Sunrise Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Centennial Coyotes will be playing at home against the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Centennial is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Wednesday. They were beaten by Desert Mountain 52-24.

Meanwhile, after a string of 14 wins, Sunrise Mountain's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 53-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Notre Dame Prep. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Saints are ranked 64th).

Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Sunrise Mountain, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-2.

Centennial might still be hurting after the 60-36 loss they got from Sunrise Mountain in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Centennial avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
