Volleyball Recap: Ellie Molinar Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Kermit

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Andrews, Compass Academy was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Kermit Yellow Jackets with a sharp 3-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 last Friday.

Compass Academy's got stronger as the match went on, holding Kermit to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-9, 25-8.

Compass Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Molinar, who had eight digs and two aces. That's the most aces Molinar has posted over her last seven matchups. Madilynn Moon also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Compass Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. They are a perfect 3-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Compass Academy's record now sits at 6-4. As for Kermit, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Coming up, Compass Academy is taking a road trip to face off against Greenwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rangers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Compass Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kermit, they will be playing at home against Trinity at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
