Baseball Recap: Aliso Niguel Drops Season-High Score on Schurr

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Aliso Niguel). They never let the Schurr Spartans get on the board and left with a 26-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Wolverines have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Connor Etnire looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Henry Drews and Austin Hays did most of the damage at the plate: Drews scored four runs while going 3-for-4, while Hays scored four runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Drews a new career-high. Cooper Flemming was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Aliso Niguel hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five strikeouts batters in seven consecutive contests.

Aliso Niguel's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Schurr, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aliso Niguel will welcome Downers Grove South at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Schurr, they will be playing at home against Mark Keppel at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans are facing the Aztecs at the right time seeing as the Aztecs are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
