Varela had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Miami Springs Golden Hawks a 4-0 shutout. The Vipers were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Golden Hawks, so the Vipers were just returning the favor.

Yoidi Martinez was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Jiovanni Zara also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Varela's win bumped their record up to 13-5-2. As for Miami Springs, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 17-3 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Varela will face off against St. Brendan at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Miami Springs, they will take on Coral Springs Charter at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
