Basketball Recap: Walthill Takes a Loss

Walthill was the 72-52 winner over Laurel-Concord-Coleridge when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Walthill Blujays took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears on Friday.

It was another big night for Gibson Roberts, who posted 29 points in addition to six assists and six boards for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge. What's more, Roberts also racked up six steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Caleb Erwin was another key player, putting up five points and three steals.

Walthill's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, they moved to 5-9 with that victory, which also ended their nine-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walthill will host Homer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, they will welcome Hartington-Newcastle at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
