The Redmond Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Eastlake Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Eastlake will be up against a hot Redmond team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Redmond put the hurt on Lake Washington with a sharp 15-5 win on Monday. Considering the Mustangs have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Redmond got a massive performance out of Regan Hendrickson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Hendrickson has posted since back in May of 2024. Maggie Enich was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and three doubles.
Redmond was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Eastlake put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Lake Washington 13-2.
Addi Baumgartner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Audrey Borup, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Elle Dill, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Redmond's record is now 5-1. As for Eastlake, their record now sits at 3-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Redmond has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eastlake struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Redmond came out on top in a nail-biter against Eastlake in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Will Redmond repeat their success, or does Eastlake has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
