Volleyball Recap: Excelsior Springs Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Excelsior Springs took on Lawson on Monday. The Tigers fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 3-2. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Excelsior Springs ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least ten points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-20, 22-25, 18-25, 15-10.

Jordin Price paced Excelsior Springs' offense, picking up 17 kills. Price got some help from Raelyn Kirtley and her 20 assists. Lillah Shue controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Excelsior Springs has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's still a better percentage than their 3-11-1 record this season. As for Lawson, the win keeps them at an undefeated 16-0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Excelsior Springs will host Winnetonka at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lawson, they will welcome Chillicothe at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
