Softball Recap: Old Colony RVT's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Old Colony RVT had lost six games on the road dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 3-5 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Bourne Canalmen 17-10. Considering the Cougars have won three games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Old Colony RVT let Kayleigh DeSousa and Patty Spillane run wild. DeSousa went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Spillane went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Spillane has posted since back in May of 2024. Emma Yelle was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Old Colony RVT was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

As for Bourne, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7. On the bright side, the ten- run effort marked their highest-scoring matchup to date.

On Bourne's side, Michaela Muldoon was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Reese Fitzpatrick, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, Bourne will challenge Case at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Canalmen's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Old Colony RVT will be paying especially close attention to Bourne's contest: after Bourne faces off against Case, they'll take on Old Colony RVT again at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
