Basketball Recap: Red Mountain Skates Past Westwood with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Red Mountain on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Westwood Warriors out of the water with a 57-18 final score. The Mountain Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Leading Red Mountain to victory were Sierra Mellish and Zoey Hancock. Mellish posted 11 points and four steals, while Hancock went 6-for-9 en route to 13 points and five boards. That's the most steals Mellish has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Audrey Pacheco, who scored a point in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Red Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Sienna Riggs and Joylani Takju certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Riggs put up ten points, while Takju had five points. That was a full 55.6% of Westwood's points, marking the ninth time in a row Riggs has earned more than a third of the team's points.

Red Mountain's win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Westwood, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-21.

As of now, neither Red Mountain nor Westwood have any future games scheduled.
