Softball Recap: Hawkins Comes Up Short

Hawkins extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-8 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 30-29 heartbreaker at the hands of the George Washington Prep Generals. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (14), the Hawks still had to take the loss.

As for George Washington Prep, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-3. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.

For George Washington Prep's part, Katherine Franco was incredible, getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances with five runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Franco a new career-high. Teaka Evans was another key player, getting on base in five of her seven plate appearances with six runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hawkins will challenge Crenshaw at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for George Washington Prep, they will take on Alliance Bloomfield at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Generals will need to watch out since the Bulls have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
