Softball Recap: Wade Hampton Takes a Loss

After flying high against Eastside last Friday, Wade Hampton came back down to earth. The Generals came up short against the Gaffney Indians on Tuesday, falling 9-2.

Wade Hampton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kellyn Kingston, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Kingston hit this season.

Wade Hampton has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Gaffney, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Wade Hampton will be playing at home against Mauldin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gaffney, they will head out on the road to square off against Chapman at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
