Merrillville hadn't done well against Crown Point recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Merrillville Pirates came out on top against the Crown Point Bulldogs by a score of 54-43. The victory was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on four straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Merrillville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kylie Wells, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Vivian Mcspadden, who posted 14 points and six boards.

Merrillville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Crown Point's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ivy Henderson, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, and Ava Richie, who earned 14 points along with six steals and five boards. Richie has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played.

Merrillville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points per game. As for Crown Point, they dropped their record down to 11-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Merrillville has already played their next contest (against Hobart), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Crown Point will take on Chesterton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Crown Point is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season.
