Basketball Recap: St. Johns Country Day Starts Season with Loss on the Road + How To Watch

St. Johns Country Day kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 44-39 to the Episcopal School of Jacksonville Eagles. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 14-5 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why St. Johns Country Day lost, don't look at Kendall Proffitt. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. Proffitt has been hot recently, having also posted four or more blocks the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madi Dorsey, who posted seven points and three steals.

Episcopal School of Jacksonville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zara Griffith led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. Jacqueline Ches was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

St. Johns Country Day has already played their next matchup, a 74-22 victory against Oak Hall on the 20th. As for Episcopal School of Jacksonville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-46 defeat against Hilliard on the 19th.
