Softball Game Preview: Covington Buccs vs. Bethel Bees

Covington is 8-1 against Bethel since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Buccs will look to defend their home field against the Bees at 5:00 p.m. Covington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Covington took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Troy Christian get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Buccs haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Taylor Foutz was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Coblentz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Bethel's offense. They came up short against Riverside on Tuesday, falling 14-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bees' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Covington pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.75 runs across that stretch. As for Bethel, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
