Basketball Game Preview: Halstead Dragons vs. Hillsboro Trojans

The Halstead Dragons will head out on the road to take on the Hillsboro Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Halstead is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kansas' top teams: Hesston, who was ranked second at the time (Halstead was ranked eighth). Halstead lost to Hesston on the road by a 41-23 margin on Tuesday. The Dragons' loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Hillsboro had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 28-16 victory over the Indians.

Hillsboro's win bumped their record up to 8-5-1. As for Halstead, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-1.

Halstead was able to grind out a solid victory over Hillsboro when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 37-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Halstead since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
