Basketball Game Preview: Heartland Christian Lions vs. Mathews Mustangs

Heartland Christian hasn't had much luck against Mathews recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Heartland Christian Lions will host the Mathews Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Heartland Christian will be strutting in after a victory while Mathews will be coming in after a defeat.

Heartland Christian will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Lake Center Christian, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Heartland Christian took their match on Saturday with ease, bagging a 52-21 win over Lake Center Christian. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 26 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Mathews was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 48-25 to Bristol.

Heartland Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Mathews, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Heartland Christian might still be hurting after the 61-36 loss they got from Mathews in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Heartland Christian was down 34-13.
