Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Hornets vs. San Diego Cavers

Lincoln and San Diego are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Lincoln Hornets will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the San Diego Cavers at 5:45 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Lincoln has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while San Diego will arrive with nine straight wins.

Lincoln is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since February 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of University City by a score of 61-59. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 649th, while the Centurions are ranked 232nd).

While San Diego didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They enjoyed a cozy 61-47 victory over Christian on Friday.

San Diego's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

Lincoln came up short against San Diego in their previous meeting back in May of 2021, falling 72-62. Can Lincoln avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
