Basketball Game Preview: Palmview Lobos vs. Martin Tigers

Palmview hasn't had much luck against Martin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Palmview Lobos are taking a road trip to challenge the Martin Tigers at 3:30 p.m. Both are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Palmview took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 72-27 victory over Roma. Given the Lobos' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 546th, while the Gladiators are ranked 1141st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Martin made easy work of Roma two weeks ago and carried off a 71-48 win.

Palmview pushed their record up to 16-11 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Martin, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13.

Palmview couldn't quite finish off Martin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 50-48. Can Palmview avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
