Baseball Game Preview: Roaring Fork Rams vs. Basalt Longhorns

For the second straight game, Roaring Fork will face off against Basalt. The Rams will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Longhorns at 11:00 a.m. Roaring Fork is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

On Wednesday, Roaring Fork didn't have quite enough to beat Basalt and fell 5-4.

For Basalt's part, Taylor Hays made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hays has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Hays wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Parker Sims, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Sims is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Karson Schneider was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Basalt and bumps their season record up to 7-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Roaring Fork, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
