Aptos is a perfect 10-0 against Soquel since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Mariners will be playing at home against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Aptos comes in on seven and Soquel on four.
Aptos gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Harbor as they made off with a 13-3 win. The Mariners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Sofia Marin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Marin was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Nova Neu was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ella Jacobs, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Soquel never let their opponents score on Thursday. They came out on top against San Lorenzo Valley by a score of 4-0.
San Lorenzo Valley's batters probably weren't too happy with Kiyomi Dunlap, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (she gave up a single walk). Dunlap has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ellie Howell was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Kilby, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.
Aptos' victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Soquel, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
Aptos was able to grind out a solid victory over Soquel when the teams last played back in March, winning 7-2. Will the Mariners repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
