Preview: Gilman City Hawks vs. Mercer Cardinals
Gilman City has enjoyed the comforts of home their last six games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Mercer Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mercer took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Gilman City, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Gilman City beat Winston 57-53.
Meanwhile, Mercer lost to Grundy County/Newtown-Harris at home by a decisive 57-42 margin on Monday. While losing is never fun, Mercer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 379th, while Grundy County/Newtown-Harris is ranked 156th).
Gilman City's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10. As for Mercer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.
Gilman City lost to Mercer on the road by a decisive 68-54 margin in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Can Gilman City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
