Volleyball Recap: Struthers Wildcats vs. Lakeview Bulldogs
After flying high against Chaney on Wednesday, Struthers came back down to earth. The Wildcats came up short against the Lakeview Bulldogs on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.
While Struthers was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-17, 25-16.
Gianna Martin paced Struthers' offense, picking up 12 kills. Martin got some help from Elliana Benson and her 11 assists. Melyka West controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Lakeview found their leader in sophomore Rylee Barnot, who had 11 digs and two aces. Barnot is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season.
Struthers' record now sits at 3-5. As for Lakeview, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-4.
Struthers wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against McKinley on the 2nd. As for Lakeview, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Girard on the 2nd.
