Basketball Recap: Millard West takes loss despite strong efforts from Max Frohloff and Cooper Fortune

Basketball Recap: Millard West Wildcats vs. Papillion-LaVista Monarchs

The Millard West Wildcats were the 69-51 winner over the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Millard West lost to the Monarchs on the road by a decisive 60-43 margin on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Millard West has scored all season.

Cooper Fortune and Max Frohloff certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Fortune scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two blocks, while Frohloff scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Vince Long, who scored five points.

Millard West struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Papillion-LaVista pulled down 23 offensive rebounds.

Eric Ingwerson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 19 rebounds for Papillion-LaVista. The team also got some help courtesy of Demarcus Mccarty, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds.

Millard West has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Papillion-LaVista, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millard West will take on the at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Papillion-LaVista, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Bunnies at 7:15 p.m. Benson is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
