Basketball Game Preview: Middleburg Broncos vs. Clay Blue Devils

The Middleburg Broncos will be taking part in a tournament against the Clay Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Middleburg nor Clay posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Middleburg's tournament run continued when they took on Orange Park on Monday. Middleburg had to suffer through a 58-23 loss at the hands of Orange Park. The loss continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 60-9, which was the final score in Clay's tilt against Bishop Snyder on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 513th, while the Cardinals are ranked 92nd).

Despite the defeat, Clay saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kathryn Moran posted seven points.

Middleburg's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Clay, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Middleburg strolled past Clay in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a score of 46-27. Will Middleburg repeat their success, or does Clay have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
