Softball Recap: Mattoon Comes Up Short

Mattoon lost against Salem back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Greenwave came up short against the Wildcats, falling 9-2. The Greenwave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mattoon saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabel Phillips, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Mattoon's loss dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Salem, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.

Mattoon is taking a road trip to challenge Centralia at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Salem, they will host Charleston at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
