Soccer Game Preview: Benton vs. Evangel Christian Academy

The Benton Tigers will square off against the Evangel Christian Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Benton will be strutting in after a win while Evangel Christian Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Benton's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Parkway as Benton made off with a 5-0 victory. Considering the Tigers have won nine games by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Evangel Christian Academy fell victim to Calvary Baptist Academy and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Cavaliers, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana soccer rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 36th).

Benton's win bumped their record up to 16-3-2. As for Evangel Christian Academy, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

Benton beat Evangel Christian Academy by a goal in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, winning 2-1. Will Benton repeat their success, or does Evangel Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
