Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Rustburg

Rustburg won the last time they faced Altavista and things went their way on Monday too. Rustburg came out on top against Altavista by a score of 7-4. The Red Devils' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Paiten Archer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Emily Hines was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Laila Bigham was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Rustburg's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Altavista, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Rustburg will face off against Alleghany at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Altavista, they will venture away from home to take on William Campbell at 5:30 p.m. on April 2.
