Baseball Game Preview: Pen Argyl Green Knights vs. Northwestern Lehigh Tigers

Pen Argyl is 1-7 against Northwestern Lehigh since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Green Knights will be playing at home against the Tigers at 11:00 a.m.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Pen Argyl's offense. They lost 16-0 to Saucon Valley on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Northwestern Lehigh waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Warriors.

Aidan Freeman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on nine hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Eli Zimmerman was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

Northwestern Lehigh's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Pen Argyl, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pen Argyl has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Northwestern Lehigh struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Pen Argyl couldn't quite get it done against Northwestern Lehigh when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Green Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
