Basketball Recap: Union Academy Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Union Academy duked it out with Mount Pleasant on Tuesday. The Union Academy Cardinals came up short against the Mount Pleasant Tigers, falling 76-51. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Union Academy still got an impressive performance from Everett Wease, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points along with five assists and five steals. Wease has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Austin Watts was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Union Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Union Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Mount Pleasant, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Union Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-35 loss against Monroe on the 12th. Mount Pleasant does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
