Softball Recap: Gordy Mooney Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Chester County

Lexington's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Chester County Eagles a 10-0 shutout. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by six runs or more this season.

Carly Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other pitching news, Lynley White looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Lexington got a big performance out of Gordy Mooney, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits Mooney has posted since back in April. Belle Powers was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Lexington's victory bumped their record up to 30-14-2. As for Chester County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.

Lexington has already played their next game, a 7-6 defeat against McNairy Central on the 8th. Chester County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
