Mineola is a perfect 5-0 against Rains since October of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Yellowjackets will host the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Rains took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mineola, who comes in off a win.

Mineola is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Eustace 51-6 on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Yellowjackets as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Aidan Shepherd was nothing short of spectacular: he picked up 122 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground.

Meanwhile, Rains was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Commerce and fell 71-6. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 984th, while the Tigers are ranked 360th).

Mineola's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-6. As for Rains, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Mineola has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 225.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Rains struggles in that department as they've been averaging 157.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Mineola took their victory against Rains in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 63-41 score. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
