Basketball Recap: Ambassador Christian School Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Ambassador Christian School Lions came up short against the Northwood Temple Academy Eagles and fell 81-71. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lions came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Eagles are ranked 95th).

Northwood Temple Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Kindle, who went 11 of 22 en route to 33 points and three steals. That's the most points Kindle has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Kenny Vera, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Ambassador Christian School's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Northwood Temple Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.

Ambassador Christian School will head out to challenge Berean Baptist Academy on Saturday. Northwood Temple Academy will take on Cape Fear Academy in a holiday battle at at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Northwood Temple Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 matchups -- so hopefully Cape Fear Academy likes a good challenge.
