If Atholton was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Meade last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Atholton Raiders fell just short of the Severna Park Falcons by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.

Atholton wouldn't go down easily and took Severna Park into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-21, 20-25, 18-25, 15-9.

Atholton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kelsey Mason, who had 21 digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Mason a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Brown, who had nine digs and two aces.

Even though they lost, Atholton was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive contests.
