Baseball Game Preview: Sparkman Senators vs. Florence Falcons

The Sparkman Senators will head out to square off against the Florence Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Sparkman is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Sparkman came up short against Bob Jones and fell 10-6.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Florence ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Saraland, sneaking past 4-3. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Falcons as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Henry Thomas Blanke made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted over his last ten games.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cooper Thomaston, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Florence now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Sparkman, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.

Sparkman skirted past Florence 4-3 in their previous matchup on March 6th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sparkman since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
