Baseball Game Preview: St. Andrew's Episcopal Saints vs. Sacred Heart Crusaders

The St. Andrew's Episcopal Saints will head out on the road to square off against the Sacred Heart Crusaders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Andrew's Episcopal will be strutting in after a win while Sacred Heart will be coming in after a loss.

St. Andrew's Episcopal took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against West Marion, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. St. Andrew's Episcopal narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past West Marion 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Saints have posted against the Trojans since May 4, 2018.

Jonah Kerr looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, St. Andrew's Episcopal's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mark Eaton, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Another was Drew McDonald, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Sacred Heart came up short against Salem on Thursday, falling 14-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Crusaders have suffered against the Wildcats since April 12, 2018.

St. Andrew's Episcopal's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Sacred Heart, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
