Softball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Drury's Winning Streak

Drury dropped their record down to 4-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 12-0 to the Taconic Thunder. The match marked the first time this year in which the Blue Devils were not able to get on the board.

As for Taconic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 12 runs or more this season.

For Taconic's part, Cheyann Goddard made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Goddard has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ella Stodden and Kylie Duhamel did most of the damage at the plate: Stodden went 2-for-4 with four runs and one triple, while Duhamel went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. With that strong performance, Stodden is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. Abby Bliss also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Drury will challenge McCann Tech at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Taconic, they will face off against Frontier Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Hawks have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
