Preview: Zuni Thunderbirds vs. Crownpoint Eagles
The Zuni Thunderbirds will head out on the road to square off against the Crownpoint Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 59-31, which was the final score in Zuni's tilt against Navajo Prep on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Zuni can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Navajo Prep is ranked 19th).
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 79-52, which was the final score in Crownpoint's tilt against Tohatchi on Thursday. Crownpoint has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Zuni dropped their record down to 9-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Crownpoint, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season.
Zuni was able to grind out a solid victory over Crownpoint in their previous matchup back in January, winning 46-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Zuni since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
