Softball Game Preview: Madison Central Jaguars vs. Germantown Mavericks

The Madison Central Jaguars will square off against the Germantown Mavericks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Madison Central is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Things were looking good for Madison Central after they put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Clinton by a score of 8-6.

Meanwhile, Germantown owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Starkville. The victory continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now won four in a row.

Germantown got a great performance from Presley Cutrer as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Cutrer a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Julia Glasgow, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Maddie Self was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Germantown hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

Madison Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Germantown, their win bumped their record up to 16-7.

Madison Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Germantown in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 5-4. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mavericks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
