Football Recap: Western Falls to Indian Creek in First Game of Season

Western unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 20-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indian Creek Braves on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 11 in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Western lost, don't look at Matthew McKitrick. Despite the final result, he rushed for 104 yards and one TD, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. McKitrick also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles.

Indian Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Drew Pingleton out in front who rushed for 130 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Jaxon Ramey was another key player, picking up 102 receiving yards and one score.

Coming up, Western will head out on the road to take on North Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Indian Creek, they will be playing at home against Greenwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
