Football Recap: Western Starts Season with Loss at Home

Western unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 20-13 to the Indian Creek Braves on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 11 in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Western lost, don't look at Matthew McKitrick. Despite the final result, he rushed for 104 yards and one score, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. McKitrick didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles.

Indian Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Drew Pingleton, who rushed for 130 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Jaxon Ramey was another key player, picking up 102 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Western didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 37-6 victory against North Montgomery on the 29th. As for Indian Creek, they have also already played their next contest, a 29-10 win against Greenwood on the 29th.
