Baseball Recap: Jackson City Extends Winning Streak to Three

While Jackson City's victory against Menifee County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 5-4 on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Gavan Ritchie was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Jackson City is 9-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Ritchie was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Morgan, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jagger Lovins, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Jackson City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Jackson City's win bumped their record up to 15-11. As for Menifee County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 15 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-22 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jackson City will head out to square off against Magoffin County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Menifee County, they will take on Robertson County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
