Preview: Monroe Central Seminoles vs. Shenandoah Zeps

Monroe Central has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Shenandoah Zeps at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Monroe Central is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Shenandoah in Ohio (Monroe Central is ranked 120th, while Shenandoah is ranked 425th).

Monroe Central pushed their score all the way to 57 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Wheeling Central Catholic 62-57.

Shenandoah suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 66-33 loss at the hands of Warren. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Shenandoah in their matchups with Warren: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite their defeat, Shenandoah saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kendal Snyder, who scored nine points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Brylee May, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.

Monroe Central's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-3. As for Shenandoah, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Everything came up roses for Monroe Central against Shenandoah in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 57-26 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Monroe Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
