Basketball Recap: Westview Wolverines vs. Burke Bulldogs

Westview entered their tilt with Burke on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 75-49 win. With the Wolverines ahead 48-21 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Westview had a senior duo take command as Tzyon Patterson went 5-for-10 en route to 13 points and four steals and Elijah Wilborn shot 55% from the field on his way to 12 points and three steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Patterson. Tyaire Griggs also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steals of the season.

Westview was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burke only racked up eight.

Burke lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tanner Pickett, who posted ten points and six rebounds. Landon Foster was another key player, going 5-for-6 to rack up 10 points.

Westview's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Burke, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Westview will venture away from home to challenge Lincoln North Star at 2:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Burke, they will be home for the holidays to greet Lincoln High at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
