Basketball Recap: Mount Pisgah Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Andrew Lee and Vernon Hampton

Mount Pisgah Academy lost against Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy back in December of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mountaineers fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 59-57. While the Mountaineers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 13-7 in the first quarter.

Mount Pisgah Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Vernon Hampton, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards, and Andrew Lee, who posted 14 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Guerrero Pilier, who had five points and 11 rebounds.

Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Kaden Wooton, who went 7-for-16 en route to 18 points in addition to seven boards and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Smith, who scored 12 points and five rebounds.

Mount Pisgah Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Pisgah Academy is headed away from home for the first time to take on Bethel Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Haywood Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 1.
