Football Recap: Donaldsonville Comes Up Short

Donaldsonville and Sterlington squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Donaldsonville had to settle for second. They were dealt a 71-26 loss at the hands of the Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Panthers are ranked 26th).

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Xavier Stromile and Tj Burch. Stromile rushed for 108 yards and four scores on only ten carries while Burch rushed for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Stromile a new career-high. Presley Parks-Smith was another key player, rushing for 88 yards and one TD on only ten carries.

Donaldsonville's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Sterlington, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2.

Donaldsonville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sterlington, they will take on Loreauville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
