Softball Recap: Godwin Eagles vs. Mechanicsville Mustangs
Godwin won against Patrick Henry last Tuesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Godwin never let the Mechanicsville Mustangs get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Katelyn Hubley made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laney Poulos, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Fankhauser, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Godwin's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Mechanicsville, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
