Football Recap: Providence Hall Patriots vs. South Summit Wildcats
Providence Hall extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-8. They were beaten by the South Summit Wildcats 52-8. If the Patriots were looking for revenge after losing 54-0 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Andrew Taylor threw for 43 yards on three of 13 attempts. On the ground, Ethan Griffith rushed for 33 yards.
As for South Summit, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-4. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.3 points on average over those games.
South Summit's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce Pulver, who rushed for 82 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries. Pulver also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Wildcats are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 3-4 otherwise. Another signal caller making a difference was Ian Mair, who threw for 115 yards and two TDs.
Providence Hall didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-6 defeat against Judge Memorial Catholic on the 24th. As for South Summit, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on American Leadership Academy at 2:00 p.m. on the 31st.
