Basketball Recap: Fredericksburg Christian Takes a Loss

Fredericksburg Christian was the 70-68 winner over Rise Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Fredericksburg Christian Eagles were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 77-76 to the Rise Academy Guardians. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fredericksburg Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Caesar, who posted 19 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Caesar has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Den McKoy, who scored 17 points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Fredericksburg Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Rise Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trevonte Atkins led the charge by putting up 21 points and seven assists. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Seaborn, who earned 17 points.

Fredericksburg Christian's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Rise Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Fredericksburg Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-70 defeat against Seton on the 14th. As for Rise Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 107-103 loss against The Carmel School on the 14th.
