Baseball Recap: Gridley Wins Going Away Against Las Plumas

Gridley barely beat Las Plumas the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Thunderbirds on Friday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Garrett Francis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.

On the hitting side, Gus Stogsdill was excellent, going 1-for-2 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Punzo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Gridley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Las Plumas only posted an OBP of .250.

Gridley's record is now 11-6. As for Las Plumas, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8-2.

Coming up, Gridley will take on Folsom in a tournament on Monday. As for Las Plumas, they are taking a road trip to face off against Orland at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Thunderbirds surely won't give up without a fight.
