Baseball Game Preview: Pitman Panthers vs. Clayton Clippers

Pitman has gone 9-1 against Clayton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Panthers will take on the Clippers at 4:00 p.m. Pitman has given up an average of 9.9 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Paulsboro hit Pitman with a seven-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Raiders. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Steven Clifford made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Liam Bially, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Clayton suffered their closest defeat since April 15th on Monday. They fell just short of Woodstown by a score of 3-1. The Clippers have struggled against the Wolverines recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Clayton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Delaney, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Pitman's record now sits at 7-14. As for Clayton, their record is now 7-13.

Pitman beat Clayton 10-5 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
